Has the Donroe Doctrine Been a Success?

On Saturday, the 3rd of January this year, the American government did something that almost no one saw coming except for a few insiders trading on Polymarket. A force descended on the Venezuelan capital of Caracas.

Within a few short hours, Washington had the former president, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, Cecilia Flores, bound and ready to face the full force of the American justice system.

For American President Donald Trump, this was a major victory, both personally and politically. On a personal level, he got to remove a leader who he hasn't liked since his first term in office, a leader who had spent part of the last few weeks of 2025 trying to copy Trump's dance in an attempt to troll the American president.
