The United States Army is on the hunt for a game-changing piece of kit. It's not a new gun, it's not a new tank, it's not a new helicopter. It's a nuclear reactor, or more specifically, a nuclear micro-reactor.

Under a brand new initiative dubbed the Janus Program, the U.S. Army wants to bring its first micro-reactor online within just three years or less, and once the Janus Program has established proofs of concept, America is going to build.

If the U.S. Army has its way, then before long, every military base in the United States could be powered by its own micro-reactor, with the technology spreading to other U.S. bases across the globe.
