Trump's Presidency Has Been a Gift to China. Here's Why.

If you spend too much time on social media, and god help you if you do, you might have seen a certain meme flying around. One that's often used when discussing China's foreign policy, especially in relation to the United States.

It shows Chinese President Xi Jinping, edited to look not like Winnie the Boo, but like Asian Giga Chad, with three simple words above him: "Do nothing, win." Now we don't usually get our geopolitical analysis from memes, but it's difficult to deny that this one has been particularly effective.

But compared to the US, which for those keeping score at home is bogged down in Iran, has just started a trade war with Canada, has alienated its allies in Europe and South Korea, and has unsuccessfully been trying to annex Greenland, well, it's hard to deny that China really does look like "doing nothing" is meaning it's still somehow winning.
